On the eve of The Flash’s release, Ben Affleck talked about his final appearance as Batman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) in an interview. Following his cameo in Ezra Miller’s solo superhero adventure, Affleck is saying goodbye to the famous role of the Caped Crusader after more than seven years. Even though he was originally supposed to appear in Aquaman 2, it was later said that his sequence was deleted because the plot was altered.
At the international premiere of The Flash in Los Angeles, Ben Affleck discussed his feelings about donning the Batman costume one last time. The actor expressed his feelings while chatting with The Movie Report where Affleck complimented Director Andy Muschietti’s brains for creating a masterpiece whilst striking the perfect balance with the tone of the movie.
Ben Affleck felt the shoot got “over too soon”
At the international premiere of The Flash in Los Angeles, Ben Affleck discussed his feelings about donning the Batman costume one last time. Affleck said that it all ended “too soon” in an interview with The Movie Report, but added that he enjoyed playing the role. He praised his co-star Ezra Miller and director Andy Muschietti for setting the appropriate tone in the movie. Affleck loved the chance to explore a different side of the character and thought his performance in The Flash was the most pleasurable experience he had playing Batman.
He said,
“The tone is a difficult thing with these movies, trying to figure out how serious, how dark, how funny, how engaging it is. And people that have done it really well have struck a balance with that tone, and I feel like Andy really did that with this movie. And it was a lot of fun. I really had a great time and it was over too soon.”
As of right now, Ben Affleck is no longer the Dark Knight of the DCU. Despite the films starring Affleck’s interpretation of Bruce Wayne/Batman received mixed reviews, some fans will fondly recall his portrayal of an older and more gruff Batman.
Ben Affleck ended up revealing his scene with Wonder Woman
Previously, during a promotional event for his recent release Air, Affleck ended up revealing a major scene his Batman shares with Wonder Woman in the upcoming The Flash. Speaking to the press, he said,
“I don’t want to give spoilers but it was a scene where I get caught — I get saved — by Wonder Woman during a conflagration with some bad guys. She saves me … with the lasso of truth. And so what happens is that Batman divulges some of his real feelings about his life and work.”
Here, Affleck may be confirming two things. The fact that Gal Gadot is still a part of the movie and doesn’t merely show up as a ghost in the Speed Force. The other is that, at the very least, his portrayal of the Dark Knight receives a send-off that becomes reflective.
The Flash was released on June 16 and is available to watch in theatres worldwide.
