'Ben Affleck really wants be a part of our architecture team': James Gunn Confirms Zack Snyder Ally Affleck Will Help Form the DCU, Seemingly Hints SnyderVerse in New Form

James Gunn and Peter Safran took the world of superheroes by frenzy when they announced all ten projects coming out in the new slate. The overall reception of the dreaded slate has been pretty positive. Amidst the new projects coming out with new actors, it has been revealed that DCU’s very own Ben Affleck will also be a part of building the new universe.

Don’t get it twisted, though. Ben Affleck’s contribution to the DCU will not be through acting. However, as fans have been hearing for some time now, the actor might be very soon sitting on the director’s chair at the DC Studios for a mystery project. Take a look at what James Gunn and Peter Safran have to say about it.

During the press conference which revealed all the exciting content that will be coming out over the years, James Gunn talked about the future of Batman in the DCU. The superhero universe will soon see a new Batman film titled Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Gunn clarified that the Batman in this film is neither Robert Pattinson nor Ben Affleck, and instead will be someone new.

However, he did mention that Affleck wanted to be a part of the team that builds the new universe, albeit as a director.

“We’re working with Ben Affleck, who really wants to be..has been a part of our architecture team trying to bring things together, and he really wants to direct one of our projects, and we’re excited for him doing that.”

It looks like Affleck will be a part of the DCU after all, even if the camera lens is not facing him. Affleck has a bit of experience directing films, including projects like Argo, Gone Baby Gone, The Town, etc. Argo even bagged an Academy Award for Best Picture in 2013. Therefore, we are super excited to see how he manages to pull off directing a big-scale superhero project.

As soon as the news broke, fans had their fingers pointing toward the direction of Batman: The Brave and the Bold stating that Affleck should direct this movie in DCU’s slate. While that could be the case, Peter Safran and Gunn in the press conference did say that they haven’t finalized a project just yet and were just speaking generally.

Safran: No, no, no, no. We’re just talking to Ben in general about stuff.

Gunn: Yeah, we and Ben have not decided together, exactly…We’re talking about two different projects right now.

However, that does not mean one cannot hope! Fans on Twitter are doing exactly that as they campaign for Affleck as The Brave and the Bold’s director.

It looks like Affleck is emerging out of the SnyderVerse to give the DCU his own little spin and the fans are here for it. Since everyone is already quite pumped up about the new slate which will hit the theatres in July of 2025 with Superman: Legacy, an Affleck-directed film will be a cherry on top!
