Both Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are among the highest-earning actors in Hollywood, with their net worths crossing hundreds of million dollars. However, as disclosed by the Batman actor, the duo once went broke for six months, right after the release of their mega-blockbuster, Good Will Hunting.

Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, Affleck disclosed a hilarious incident that happened between him and his long-time best friend, Damon, in 1997. At that time, he and Damon used to share a bank account that they used to fund their trips for auditions in NYC. After earning worth thousands of dollars each from their movie, Good Will Hunting, both actors felt like they didn’t need to work ever again.

That was until the troublesome duo spent all their earnings buying Jeeps and renting a party house in LA. The Batman actor said,

“We sold it for $600,000, we split that, $300,000 each, and then the agents got $30,000 so we had $270,000 and we paid about $160,000 in taxes so we had $110,000, each bought $55,000 Jeep Cherokees and then had $55,000 left. Naturally, we decided to rent a $5,000-a-month party house on Glencoe Way by the Hollywood Bowl and we were broke in six months.”

And just like that, the two companions went broke within six months of the release of the $225M Robin Williams mega-hit movie.

Talking about their friendship, he also disclosed how the duo did a coin toss for finding out which one of them got which color of Jeep. But even after all the hardships, the Batman star said he found Damon’s support during the early years of their career rather ‘valuable’, saying,
