In a heartfelt discussion on her talk show Red Table Talk, actor Jada Pinkett Smith discussed candidly the institution of marriage with her husband Will Smith, and her mother Adrienne Banfield-Jones. Confessing that she was never keen on getting married, Pinkett Smith spoke of the pressures of pregnancy that pushed her to take the plunge and the fears she faced as a young working pregnant woman.
“I was under so much pressure, being a young actress, being young and pregnant. I didn’t know what to do, but I just knew I never wanted to be married. I just never really agreed with the construct. I just don’t agree with it. I never have, I still don’t. Till death do us part is real for me. It’s just all of the rules and ideas.”
