Hollywood film producers use a variety of unusual and often bizarre methods to ensure that they receive a terrific short for their films. The directors go to considerable lengths to find the appropriate short film for a film.
For Tom Cruise’s film The Outsiders, writer S.E Hinton made a strange suggestion to the 61-year-old actor to ensure that he could do the sequence. The Mission Impossible actor also followed the advice and interestingly he felt fine to do the scene.
S.E Hinton made Tom Cruise drink raw eggs on the sets of The Outsiders
The Outsiders was a drama and crime movie which was released on 25 March 1983. The movie was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and it was written by S.E Hinton. Tom Cruise played the character of Steve Randle, Matt Dillon was seen as Dallas Winston, Ralph Macchio portrayed the character of Johnny Cade and Patrick Swayze was Darell in the movie. While filming for Top Gun, an interesting incident involving the actor was uncovered. Swayze reportedly instructed Cruise on how to do a back tuck from the top of a truck.
Just when the Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation actor was about to do the part, he began to feel nauseated. It was because the sequence was shot after lunch, and the actor thought he had eaten too much. He went to the writer Hinton and described his problem to him. She asked the Jack Reacher actor if throwing up would make him feel better, and Cruise agreed. Just to make the actor vomit, the writer made him drink raw eggs and finally, the actor threw up and he was able to do his scene.
