With the concept of the multiverse open to introducing old and new characters, fans continue to wonder who else might appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One actor whose name keeps cropping up in discussions is Timothée Chalamet, who has been getting a lot of attention for his performance in Dune and its sequel.
Interestingly, before Tom Holland, the charismatic actor who portrays Spider-Man, had another idea for Chalamet’s involvement in the MCU, Timothée Chalamet and co-star Zendaya were just friends. Holland has stated his desire to cast Chalamet as Peter Parker’s friend-turned-foe Harry Osborn in the Spider-Man movies.

In the Spider-Man comics and movies, Harry Osborn is a pivotal character as the son of Norman Osborn, aka The Green Goblin. Harry Osborn, portrayed by James Franco in the Sam Raimi trilogy and by Dane DeHaan in The Amazing Spider-Man films, has not yet appeared in or even been mentioned by the MCU.

Fans have wondered how and when this character will be introduced to the rapidly growing Marvel canon. During an interview with the Associated Press, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon spoke about Timothée Chalamet’s potential role in the MCU.
“I think he would be a good friend of Spider-Man. Or a foe of Spider-Man! I think it would be good to bring him in as a [friend] and then he kind of becomes bad, and then he can be a villain. He’d be a good villain.”
At the tender age of 27, Timothée Chalamet has established himself as a leading man in such critically acclaimed films as Greta Gerwig’s Little Women and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 2. Chalamet has won over critics and moviegoers with his charisma and talent, earning him an Oscar nomination and widespread acclaim.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Chalamet revealed that he once auditioned to play Spider-Man but instead panicked and left his audition without giving it a second try. Chalamet considered a second chance at the iconic superhero role after being inspired by the cautionary tale of actress Sean Young, who scared off producers when she showed up in costume while auditioning for the role of Catwoman.
