Over the past few years, actor Robert Pattinson has delivered some outstanding performances. The actor entered the entertainment industry in the early 2000s and gained recognition for his work as Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise. Although, this wasn’t what the actor wanted exactly so he then worked hard to get rid of that image.

One of his most notable works came in 2017’s Good Time. Directed by Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie, the movie showcased a different side of Pattinson. In order to prepare for his role as Connie in the movie, the actor actually washed cars at a car wash and roamed around Yonkers in character, understanding the role.

The lengths that actor Robert Pattinson is ready to go to in order to prepare for his roles is actually insane. Good Time (2017) wasn’t a huge project, in fact, it was made on a budget of just $2 million, however, Pattinson didn’t take it lightly.

Pattinson played the role of Connie Nikas, a small-time criminal. In the movie, he stars alongside Benny Safdie and the two took their roles very seriously. They went around Yonkers and worked at a car wash. Pattinson explained in an interview with W Magazine,

“Me and Benny Safdie, we went out a few times in character. Like we got jobs at a car wash. Just for a day until Benny started pulling off people’s windscreen wipers and stuff, and we were like, it’s actually committing crimes. But we spent a few days in character and we spent a whole day in Yonkers, just kind of talking to this guy in a, in a mechanic’s [shop]. So that was fun. I’ve never done anything like it, where you just kind of full-on go in character, to spend an entire day in character. We did it a few times.”

Pattinson preferred to go out and actually understand the life of his character. The movie wasn’t a huge financial success as it grossed just over $4 million at the global box office.

Pattinson also revealed that they shot some of the scenes in the movies in public places. Somehow, no one recognized them or could understand what was going on. The actor said,

“We were like shooting on the subway. And we were stealing so many shots. Like shooting on a packed subway at rush hour and we’re shooting on 36-millimeter cameras as well with big lenses. And no one really recognized it.”

Overall, Robert Pattinson has managed to successfully transition from his breakthrough role in the Twilight series to a diverse and acclaimed career in both independent and mainstream films. His talent, dedication, and willingness to take on challenging roles have made him one of the most respected actors in the entertainment industry right now.
