Kate Winslet is no stranger to filming in unwelcome surroundings. She has done movies above the surface and underwater. Whether it was during her early stages in Hollywood or when she is standing at the peak of it, the actress does not shy away from filming in the toughest conditions. Her knack for filming no matter what is one quality of hers admired by many.
Similar to her is Winslet’s Titanic co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio. Both she and the actor have shot in some concerningly difficult terrains. Although they have won various awards for the same, it does not mean that they always enjoy the conditions in which they work. However, both of them always try to make the best of it. Winslet especially enjoys how much she can connect other movies with her time on the set of James Cameron’s movie.
Kate Winslet Found Filming The Mountain Between Us More Difficult Than The Revenant
Idris Elba and Kate Winslet were starring side by side in The Mountain Between Us. The movie revolved around the characters of Ben Bass and Alex Martin who got stranded on a snow-covered mountain in Utah as they try to make their way through and survive together.
“We weren’t ready for how hard those environments were to actually work in,” Kate Winslet stated. “I’ve heard Leo say similar things about The Revenant. We had quite a lot of crew who were from that film, and they did go so far as to say that ‘this is tougher,’ which we were quite proud of.”
The actress could not help but get giddy over the fact of how she had to travel back and forth on a helicopter every day just so she could film on top of a mountain. She looked back to the moment when Leonardo DiCaprio told her about how difficult it was filming The Revenant. Winslet also added as to how there were many people from the movie set who were working with her. They remarked on how working on this movie’s set was much tougher than DiCaprio’s film.
Kate Winslet Couldn’t Help But Remember Titanic
Kate Winslet was constantly remembering things from the set of Titanic while she was filming The Mountain Between Us. Whether it was the ice she was surrounded by or the various difficult stunts she had to perform, it was all reminding her of how she was in the movie with DiCaprio and Cameron accompanying her.
“Oh my God, there are so many outtakes where I’m literally like, ‘Brings back memories!’” she added. “There was a Titanic memory at least once a day.”
She further commented about how nothing could ever stop her from filming after the 1997 movie came out. This even helped her in breaking Tom Cruise’s record of holding his breath underwater for the longest time.
