Henry Cavill is no stranger to controversies after all, he’s a superstar. From donning a superhero outfit as Superman to showing off his fighting charms with Geralt of Rivia’s role in Netflix’s The Witcher, he has developed a strong portfolio. While we all know by now that he has already left DC, the Netflix show would feature him for the last time in the ongoing season.
Henry Cavill Treated The Witcher Crew With Utmost Respect
At the time, the showrunner, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich shared that his courteous manners often garnered an assistant director’s attention.
“It’s to the point where sometimes our ADs are like, ‘OK, we have a huge crew, you can’t ask everyone.”
Cavill explained how he wanted people to know that they get the same respect as him as everyone is doing their job.
“A set is often rush-rush-rush, and we forget the basic human decencies. I want people to know I respect everything they do and they’re just doing a job like I am. To me, it’s just respect and good manners.”
His demeanor and down-to-earth thoughts would have melted your heart to fall for him once again and we get it. However, this gentle guy got surrounded by a bizarre controversy when he was alleged to be toxic to writers.
Henry Cavill’s Alleged Toxic Behavior on The Witcher Set
Last year, when the announcement of Cavill leaving the show happened, it came along with some strange rumors that stated the reason behind his exit. At the time, the Deuxmoi podcast claimed that the Mission: Impossible-Fallout star’s alleged toxic behavior was getting overwhelming for women writers and showrunner which ultimately led to his exit.
The report suggested that he would allegedly ignore the female crew by overrunning their decisions and making last-minute changes to the script. That led to the female staff being unable to do their jobs, leading to several complaints against him. His alleged misogynistic and toxic behavior in the later seasons got him a final warning which he allegedly chose to ignore leading to Netflix firing him.
The Witcher Season 3 Part 1 is available on Netflix with the second part coming this July 27, 2023.
