At a time when all the film industry could talk about was the grand scaling of the future of Hollywood into multi-billion dollar franchises led by the MCU, a new player entered the market and completely flipped the script, which was none other than Barbie created by director Greta Gerwig, a film that pushed the world into the bright pink frenzy that everyone is noticing around them.
And while the whole world is loving the film and the cultural fest that it has turned out to be, there are some individuals that feel the film is nothing more than a glorified propaganda fest. Among them, comedian Bill Maher was recently seen coming under fire from numerous fans of the movie for calling it a ‘man-hating’ agenda.
Bill Maher Gets Blasted By Fans For Calling Barbie A Propaganda Film
Whether one may have eagerly gone and watched the film in theatres or one might not have, none can deny the fact that Greta Gerwig‘s latest directorial Barbie has left an impression on the world in the short time since it was released. Everywhere around the globe, people can be seen celebrating the film and talking about it in conversations, whether it be reviews or the infamous memes. But not all of them are positive towards the movie, in fact, American comedian Bill Maher called out the movie to be just another preachy agenda film.

In a recent tweet posted by Maher, he talked about how he was hoping the film starring Margot Robbie would not turn out to be yet another film where men were portrayed in a negative light, and when he finally watched the film, he was disappointed as his fears came true. He talked about how this film was a ‘Zombie Lie,’ which means something that used to be true but no longer is, but certain people pretend it’s still true.
As soon as he posted this on X, the comment sections and replies to this tweet went into a frenzy, where fans of the films, as well as others, came together to bash the comedian’s opinion.
With such a hot take, it wasn’t surprising to see Maher get so much negative attention from the fans as well as the audience.

Why Is Barbie So Successful?
The biggest reason for the film’s success was just how wonderfully outlandish yet exciting the idea of watching the iconic plastic doll come to life on the big screen was. And with the release schedules filled with new releases for existing franchises, Barbie was a breath of fresh air that everyone needed. Along with these aforementioned reasons, the release of Christopher Nolan’s latest project Oppenheimer on the same day, the memes that flooded the media and pop culture circles boosted both films’ popularity into the stratosphere.
