If you’ve been playing Baldur’s Gate 3 in early access, then you may have noticed that a few characters are a lot more amorous than others. And no, it’s not your charm that has been enticing them to get down and dirty. It turns out there’s actually an explanation to the uber-horny characters, according to Larian CEO Sven Vincke.
Sorry to burst the bubble of those who thought they were pretty smooth!

What’s Making Baldur’s Gate 3 Characters So Horny?
It’s been a running joke that Baldur’s Gate 3 is a horny game. And now Larian CEO Sven Vincke has confirmed that the romances were in fact bugged at launch. So this meant that characters were ready to get down and dirty much quicker than they were supposed to.
So no, it wasn’t your amazing wit and charm that enticed that character into those carnal acts. And speaking in an interview recently, Vincke had the following to say on the matter;
“So… it was a bug. The approval thresholds were too low when we shipped. That’s why they were so horny in the beginning. It wasn’t supposed to be that way. We’ve fixed it since, at least for some of them. We’re still fixing a few of them.”
Players have noted that one of the most affected characters was none other than the bad boy wizard, Gale. With one player stating that Gale was very quick to get down. On this, Vincke stated;
“It wasn’t intended. Especially Gale. [He] wasn’t supposed to be like, instantly there.”
“There were a lot of people that enjoyed it. But it was too fast. It was supposed to simulate how real relationships are,” adding that it would be ‘problematic’ if this was real life. “

However it seems that players are quite happy with the increased intimacy and weren’t wanting Larian to fix the bug. Unfortunately for them, their opinions haven’t stopped the studio from going ahead with addressing the matter. It just means that they’ll have to work harder on their interactions, if they intend to romance a companion.
So with the official launch just a couple of days away, will the bug be addressed before hand? Vincke seems to think so. But it appears that the over-horny characters haven’t been the only issue for those who’ve been experiencing the early access. Some have reported issues with audio and others have commented that the game feels “jerky.”
We can only hope that these are addressed ahead of the official launch, and those that have been waiting patiently get the game they’ve been longing for.
But what are your thoughts on the latest news for Baldur’s Gate 3? Have you been playing on early access and noticed how some characters are more “free and easy” than others? Or are you hoping that some of the bugs are still there before the official launch on 6 September? Get in touch, drop us a comment, and let us know your thoughts.
