Fans of The Witcher and Henry Cavill loyalists were dealt a massive blow with the shocking announcement that the Man of Steel star will depart from the series after season 3. His iconic character Geralt of Rivia will be further portrayed by Liam Hemsworth from season 4 onwards. With Cavill making the intense and powerful character his own, viewers have expressed their disappointment.
But the British star’s exit from the show isn’t the only talking point about The Witcher. From reports that are coming in, it seems to be that Cavill’s protagonist Geralt Of Rivia will have to make way for another character to gain centerstage and prominence in the show.
Freya Allen May Outshine Henry Cavill In The Witcher Season 3
While audiences across the world are still coming to terms with the fact that Henry Cavill will appear in his last season as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, information from executive producers Steve Gaub and Tomasz Bagiński hints at a change in the focus of characters which will make Henry Cavill play second fiddle. According to the producers, Freya Allen’s character Ciri will take centerstage in season 3 while Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia and Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer will move to supporting roles. Elaborating a bit more on the change, Bagiński said,
“Ciri is evolving as an actress in the season. It was an incredible season for her. We had a little bit more material from the books to work with, which made some of our choices easier.”
Despite Henry Cavill’s lesser presence in the season, it will be a nostalgic watch for fans to see their favorite star portray his famous role for the final time.
Henry Cavill Performed His Own Stunts In The Witcher
Henry Cavill is known for his focus and commitment to his roles. The star who brough a unique perspective to Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, took his passion a step further by performing all of his stunts in the popular fantasy series. Apart from nailing the action, the Justice League star also helped to choreograph many of the sequences along with stunt coordinator Wolfgang Stegemann and earned the nickname of “second fight coordinator”. Stegemann praised Cavill’s skills and said,
“Henry and I would sit together and plan how to film the fight sequences. He was deeply involved in the whole process, from conceptualizing the scenes to shooting them,”
Cavill also participated in designing the shots and finding the right camera angles for the fight scenes. Despite having been injured on set during the second season, the talented star continued to ace the complex choreography and stunts as they were envisioned originally.
