Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury is undoubtedly a character with almost zero haters and is an integral part of the MCU. Although, renowned for his mission-oriented nature and tactical brilliance, his witty one-liners amidst the chaos and high stakes, made him a fan favorite. But turns out, all his snappy remarks weren’t always planned but was Jackson working his magic on camera. Samuel L. Jackson is an actor who needs no introduction, and his work in films such as Pulp Fiction and Die Hard franchise is enough to prove his expertise, but the current generation got to witness his comedic improvisation when he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Thus, his brutal reply to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Far From Home, further proved the above-stated fact. Besides, painting out Fury’s frustration, the unscripted line won a lot of hearts.
Nick Fury’s snappy reply to Spider-Man was improvised by Samuel L. Jackson
Thanks to Samuel L. Jackson, Marvel fans can now never picture another actor portraying Nick Fury. Him effortlessly infusing the character with dry, and deadpan humor adds an extra layer of charm to his personality. Whether he’s delivering a scathing remark or engaging in banter with his fellow Avengers, Fury’s humorous side provides much-needed comic relief amidst the gravity of his responsibilities.
Therefore, in addition to these qualities, his impeccable timing is what made a scene from Spider-Man: Far From Home a highlight. Thus, when Peter Parker was scared and hesitant to take up the extra duties of fighting the elementals even after battling much more threatening situations than this, Fury was utterly frustrated. And expressed his frustration using a line that was reportedly not scripted. He says,
“b—ch please. You’ve been to space,”
In an interview with ComicBook.com, their co-star Jake Gyllenhaal confirmed it was indeed not scripted. He said,
“I’m here to attest. That was improvised.”
Jackson took the liberty of adding the line at that moment, and it turned out so good that the directors decided to leave it as it is and the rest is history.
Samuel L. Jackson wasn’t happy after he saw the Far From Home poster
The Nick Fury actor was furious after he saw the poster for the Spider-Man movie during its release back in 2019. A graphic designer clearly mixed up his eye patch and made the actor visibly upset. As he showcased his concern with an Instagram post. He said,
“Uhhhhhhh, What In The Actual F**K IS GOING ON HERE???!!!”
After that, he added two hashtags to clarify, one said, #HeadsGonRoll while the other stated, #LeftEyeMuthaFukkah. Although many tried to save the poor designer by saying that was Nick Fury from an alternate dimension. Although bringing in a Nick Fury 2.0, wouldn’t be as surprising since MCU is notorious for playing with multiple universes, but clearly that wasn’t the case here.
Thus, Samuel L. Jackson’s portrayal of Nick Fury throughout the years has left an indelible mark on the MCU. His ability to seamlessly blend humor and seriousness has made Fury a fan favorite, transforming him into a vital and dynamic presence within the franchise. Fans now await to see him on future MCU projects for the latest phase.
