Avengers: End Game Star Makes Her MCU Return in James Gunn's Final Marvel Movie Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3’s release is just around the corner and fans are super stoked to see what James Gunn has in store for the finale of the franchise. However, excitement isn’t the only emotion at play here. After watching the film’s trailer, fans are convinced that they are going to have to say goodbye to at least one of the Guardians and the majority believes it’s going to be Rocket Raccoon.

Adding on to the above-mentioned gloom, a newly released clip shows a glimpse into Rocket’s heart-wrenching past where he is joined by other animals, facing the same fate as him. One of those animals is voiced by a certain actress who has plenty of experience in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Lindia Cardellini. This time, though, she returns as a completely different character.

Linda Cardellini has played the role of Laura Barton, Clint Barton aka Hawkeye’s wife. She was seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Endgame, and Hawkeye. Cardellini will once again be a part of the MCU, although not as Laura.

Collider shared an exclusive clip from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 where Rocket was seen with three other animals, each in their own enclosures talking about their future in the new world. These animals are Teef the Walrus, Floor the Rabbit, and Lylla the Otter. Cardellini will be the voice of Lylla.

GOTG3 will be Cardellini’s fourth appearance in the MCU and her fifth collaboration with James Gunn. Gunn was a part of Avengers: Endgame and the pair have also worked together in Scooby-Doo,  Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, and Super. Cardellini is officially the fifteenth actor who plays multiple roles in the MCU.

James Gunn Talks about the Group of Animals

Cardellini will be joined by Asim Chaudhry and Mikaela Hoover who will play Teef and Floor respectively. We are quite excited to see how these adorable animals affect Rocket’s storyline. In the interview with Collider, Gunn gave a little snippet about the group stating that they were best friends.

“They’re best friends… and I think it’s a really beautiful scene with them… where they talk about going outside into the sky, in the world, which they’ve never experienced.”

Gunn also clarified that the movie won’t show these animals getting hurt as people are “squeamish” about it.

“And in fact, I was very, very careful about what we see in terms of animals being hurt because it is something I’m incredibly squeamish about, and people are squeamish about. So I think the difficult stuff to watch in the movie – and there is some difficult stuff at times – is because of the idea of what’s happening more than what you actually see. You don’t see very much, in terms of violence or harm to animals, but you do see these little animals, the results of which are not the most beautiful, but somehow they’re extraordinarily cute.”

Well, it looks like we are going to need some tissues for more reasons than one! After all, Cardellini, Chaudhry, and Hoover along with Bradley Cooper are going to rip out hearts into tiny, tiny pieces.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 releases in theatres on 5th May 2023.
