The 40-year-old actress is coming back to the screen with her upcoming romantic comedy, Love Again, and the action series Citadel. The Anomaly founder stars alongside Richard Madden in the action series. Russo Brothers Praised Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Work in Citadel
During their recent interview with Total Film, producers of the show, the Russo brothers showered the lead actress of the series with praises. The Russo brothers shared their experience working with Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the upcoming Prime series.
They shared, “Priyanka is really gifted physically.” The producers further described her character as “bada*s,” and said that she “kicks a lot of a*s in the show.” They even claimed that it’s actually Nadia, portrayed by the Baywatch actress, who is leading most of the action sequences in the show, and her co-star, Richard Madden, is playing catch up throughout the series.
“Her character is driving a lot of the action for the better part of the series, and Richard’s character is playing catch up.”
They shared that it was an idea they were interested in and were excited to explore it even further. Anthony Russo also shared that they are planning a “spy-verse” approach with this series, and plan to develop it in the future.
Russo Brothers to Bring Fresh Experience in Spy-Thrillers
The Russo brothers, producers of Citadel, claim to present something that people have been waiting for a long time. Many James Bond fans have been looking forward to an actress portraying 007. While most James Bond fans seem against the idea, there are still a number of fans, who have been asking the studio to consider bringing a female James Bond.
While that does not seem to happen anytime soon, the Russo brothers have plans to introduce a female spy in Citadel. During their interview, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo shared that they love James Bond and wanted to share their stories inspired by a character they watched growing up.
“But our job is to try to take what we love about these sorts of genres and films that have influenced us and figure out ways to push them into spaces and places that surprise us.”
They shared that they did not want to present another version of James Bond in a spy-thriller. But they were aiming for something fresh that could excite and surprise fans. The Russo brothers also talked about how this genre has been limited to male leads only, and that’s why they wanted to try something new with Citadel.
Citadel will premier on 28 April 2023 on Amazon Prime Video.
