October has never been so far away for Assassin’s Creed fans, because the anticipation for Mirage‘s arrival on consoles only grows and every day. More details about combat, gameplay, and story are revealed, but this time we  have a glimpse of the world that will be explorable in the title. Assassin’s Creed Mirage has had the full extent of its in-game map revealed via a Collector’s Edition leak in which the map is one of the exclusive perks for Amazon’s launch editions.

Interestingly to note is that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the first title in the series in many years to feature an open world smaller than its predecessors. This has drawn the curiosity of players and may also show a greater commitment by developers to pay attention to each smaller map detail, opposed to expanding a depthless setting. It might mean the experience is still immersive without over-doing things. A good move considering the trajectory of the franchise and how it’s criticized for its repetitiveness.

As seen in the post above, the places that will be able to be visited by Basim under the control of the players include the city of Baghdad and Madīnat as-Salām, also known as the “Round City” (ancient urban core, dating from the 13th century), Abbasiyah (the third Islamic caliphate), Harbiyah (the northernmost district), the Karkh Districts (historically the western half of Baghdad), Dur-Kurigalzu (a city in southern Mesopotamia), Al-Anbar (currently one of the 19 provinces of Iraq), Alamut (a region of present-day Iran) and Jariariyah.

As mentioned before, the map may not be as extensive and this may disappoint some fans who prefer to travel long distances and play out different scenarios. Even without as much detail, Ubisoft’s strategy of bringing a more concise world to Assassin’s Creed Mirage brings ample opportunities for players to explore this open world even denser this time around.

From the leaked image, it is difficult to specify the exact size of the map, but the effort of the developers to make the game world more compact is noticeable. And with that, there’s a lot to discover in a smaller space in this reimagined Baghdad, at a time of great prosperity for the historic city. Urban areas are expected to be dense enough for parkour mechanics to be fun and unrivaled with the new features brought to this new title.

For fans who have already secured the game or plan to buy it, Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches early on October 5th and arrives on multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, and the surprise addition of Amazon Luna.
