!!This article contains major spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse !!
The highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released this month and has made a remarkable entry at the box office. Along with a 95% critic score, the sequel has also been doing pretty great at the box office, already grossing over $200 million. It is full of easter eggs as multiple versions of the web-swinging superhero appear through Miles’ journey in the Spider-Verse.
However, the filmmakers have shared that there was so much more that they left out from the final cut with respect to the appearances of the live-action Spider-Men in the sequel.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Cut Live-Action Sequences
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has multiple surprise factors for fans. Not only the film includes numerous versions of the superhero, but it also has brief appearances of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. As Miguel O’Hara explains the concept of canon events to Miles from different timelines, the Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man stars make a brief appearance.
However, the directors of the film have revealed that there was so much more that didn’t make it to the final cut. During an interview with Variety, Kemp Power said,
“There were times when we had huge live-action sequences in the film, and it just turned into a bad joke.”
Originally the sequel was expected to feature multiple sequences from the previous live-action Spider-Man films. However, the filmmakers shared that many elements had no significance in the story, so they decided to exclude them from the final cut.
They claimed that even they started to dislike it, and decided to keep the sequences that “[speak] to the story.” And fans love the film and have also claimed that the amount of live-action sequences is perfect, as the film needed to focus on its main characters. And they’re hoping to see more such sequences in the threequel.

Fans Expecting More From Beyond the Spider-Verse
Similar to the 2018 film, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has also received a huge response from fans and critics. And they are also expecting the same from the threequel in the series. Fans shared their opinion on the live-action sequences in the film and the director’s decision to cut off the insignificant scenes from the final cut.
Many shared that the number of live-action sequences in Across the Spider-Verse was perfect, as the primary focus of the film is still Miles Morales and him learning more about different Spider-Man timelines.
Others suggested that they should use these sequences in the third film in the series, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Many also appreciated the makers for keeping the best in and scrapping moments that did not add up to the story.
