Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s Ending Was Changed Last Month

Fans had huge expectations from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as it was the first film of phase 5 of the MCU. However, phase 5 did not have a great start, as the threequel went on to be one of the worst-rated MCU films. Critics and fans have pointed out several things that could have been better.

And the list has a new addition, its alternate ending. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ended with the hero’s victory as Ant-man and the Wasp defeated Kang the Conqueror and safely escape the quantum realm. However, this was not the original ending the makers had in mind for Quantumania.

The original ending featured Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly getting stuck in the quantum realm after Hope returns to save Scott. Jonathan Majors’ Kang was supposed to survive and go after everyone who banished him. While the final cut featured a happy ending, it was not what fans expected.

The earlier lacked summary of the film also had the original ending, in which Scott and Hope were stuck, and Hank, Janet, Cassie, and Kang escaped the quantum realm. Hope assures Scott that Cassie will find a way to get them out of there. The film further follows Cassie as she runs different programs on the computer before she spots something, and the screen goes blank.

The Studio Allegedly Changed the Original Ending to Avoid Repetition

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania did not turn out as good as it was expected to be. Critics have deemed it one of the worst MCU films, with a 48% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, with the original ending of the film revealed online, fans started discussing how the original ending could have been better for the threequel.

Some believe it could have been better for the film to end with Ant-Man and the Wasp stuck in the quantum realm. However, many also believe it may have led to a repetition of Scott Lang’s story. During the post-credit scene of the 2018 Ant-Man sequel, Scott Lang gets stuck in the subatomic dimension before returning in Endgame.

It is claimed that the leaving Ant-Man and the Wasp stuck in the quantum realm would have repeated the same events. The superheroes are also expected to join forces against Kang the Conqueror in the upcoming Avengers films. And with the potential Ant-Man 4 not having the possibility to release before The Kang Dynasty, it would not have been possible.
