Anne Hathaway has been in the Hollywood industry for a long time now and all the accolades in her name prove just how wonderful of an actress she really is. Having worked in so many different movies, all requiring something different from her, she has had opportunities one after the other which add to her fame.
Now, she may be an actress known by basically everybody. However, during her early days, Hathaway’s career had been going so badly that she almost considered quitting. Lucky for her fans, she never did and went on to collect an Oscar in her name as well. Had it not been for the right moment when she returned, her career might have gone very differently.
Anne Hathaway Lied To Get A Role In Brokeback Mountain
Anne Hathaway had to work extremely hard to get the role of Lureen Newsome Twist in Brokeback Mountain. Not that the director knew about it initially. Although the actress was already contemplating whether or not she was the right fit for the role, she decided to lie on her resume.
“When I left the audition, the last thing Ang said was, ‘Oh, by the way, can you ride a horse?’ My parents have given me a lot of gifts in my life, and one of them is: If you’re ever asked if you can do anything, say yes. You can learn anything in two weeks if you’re motivated enough.”
When Ang Lee asked her if she could ride a horse, she told a lie about how she was a professional at it. She then tried learning how to ride a horse before the filming of the movie began. Despite her becoming really good at it, it was not enough. When the filming actually began, the horse was not listening to her at all and she even ended up falling in front of 300 professional riders.

Anne Hathaway Was Ready To Quit Acting
Anne Hathaway revealed that by the time she got a role offered in Brokeback Mountain, she was at a really low point in her career and was asked to work with some incredibly big actors. She was very hesitant as to working with them and was contemplating if her being there would be ideal.
“The movie was so beautiful, so perfect, I thought I would ruin it, so I left,” the actress added. “I came back just in time to see a scene where my breasts were on-screen, so that was special.”
She was heavily undermining herself and felt that it would be better to keep herself away from the film rather than ruin it with her presence.
