However, the rule was broken by the Salt actress when she made her daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt star in a movie alongside her in the 2014 smash hit masterpiece.
Angelina Jolie’s and Brad Pitt’s Rule
Even though many people do not know this, Angelina Jolie’s parents were renowned actors in the industry. The actress had told The Hollywood Reporter, how she was forced to follow in her parent’s footsteps for financial stability and learn different skills to grow as a person.
“It was a job, and I wanted to help my mom with bills. It was a creative job, something where you get to explore different times in history, different people, different sides of yourself, learn different skills — so it’s a wonderful job to have as you grow and as you learn as a person.”
The actress was in a relationship with Brad Pitt and 2014, the actress told that they “never wanted our kids to be actors.” However, they would like them to be in touch with the industry so that the kids can have a healthy relationship with the movie industry.
“Well, Brad and I have never wanted our kids to be actors. We’ve never talked about it. But we also want them to be around film and be a part of mommy and daddy’s life, and for it not to be kept from it either. We just want them to have a good, healthy relationship with it.”
Even though the Taking Lives actress showcased similar sentiments in numerous interviews, she allowed one of her children to debut alongside their mother.
Why Did Angelina Jolie Allow Vivienne Jolie-Pitt to be on the Big Screen?
Even though she did not want her children to be actors, she was forced to allow her youngest daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt to make her debut in Maleficent. However, this was not part of the script. According to the actress, other child actors would be terrorized by the actress in her costume.
“This came about because there were kids that would come to set and they would see me, and I would go up and say hi to them, and they would cry. I actually had one children completely freeze, and then cry. It was like terror. And so, I felt so bad. And we realized that there was no way that we were going to find a 4- or 5-year-old that I could be as strong with, that would not see me as a monster.”
The actress explained that her daughter would come running to her looking similar to little Aurora, and everyone on the set believed that she would be perfect. She had to convince Brad Pitt to allow their youngest daughter to make her debut.
“Suddenly, there was Vivi, running around looking like little Aurora and everybody thought, ‘Oh, the answer is right there.’ But then, I had to go home and talk to dad. It’s our kid, so it’s so sweet. The idea of it was so cute to us, as mommy and daddy. But then, there was the fact that she would be in a film. All of that took us a second.”
Well, breaking the rule was worth it because the film was a smash hit at the Box Office collecting $758.5 million, and $85.2 million in domestic video sales, making it one of the highest-grossing movies.
