Gear 5 was one of the most successful games for the Xbox. For this popular franchise to continue its legacy, there should be a sequel! With the live action of Gear starring Zack Snyder and Dave Bautista, the internet is going crazy over this rumor about Gear 6. There isn’t much information available on the internet about Gear 6, like the gameplay, storyline, or game modes.
However, in a recent podcast of XboxEra, Sphesal Nick talked about what the developers of Gear 6 are thinking. Microsoft is asking the developers to make the game in such a way that players will have freedom of movement and action. Even though the circumstances of Gear 6 are unknown, players have been looking forward to The Coalition making this exciting update in the sequel.
Is Gear of War 6 going to be open-world?
The Australian gamer Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker spoke about what Microsoft and The Coalition are planning in the XboxEra podcast. It seems like the developers are thinking about turning Gear of War 6 entirely open-world. With the previous iteration of the game, Gear of War 5, released in 2019, having some larger semi-open locations, it wouldn’t be far-fetched.
Shpeshal Nick said that Microsoft wants players to have freedom in the game. They should be able to freely explore and take action because Microsoft believes such games are rather successful nowadays.
However, there is no hint of doubt that this popular franchise will continue its legacy. Even though there is no official information regarding the release date or development of the game, only insider information is available as of now.
When will Gear of War 6 be released?
There is no official source to predict the actual release date of Gear of War 6. But considering the activities of the prior titles in the series, a vague timeline can be predicted. Gear of War 5 was released three years after Gear of War 4. From that logic, Gear of War 6 should’ve been released last year, i.e., 2022.
However, the developers of the game have something different to say. On May 10, 2021, The Coalition posted in a blog post that they’ll be using the Unreal Engine 5 for the production of Gear of War 6.
“Shifting to a new engine is a big undertaking, so we want to be clear that we will not be announcing any new projects or titles for some time.”
This simply implies that we won’t be getting the game till late 2024 or 2025. They’ll be creating things from scratch in the Unreal Engine 5, so it might take longer than we’re speculating. However, it’s likely that the game will be only available for Xbox Series X | S and PC, leaving out the last-gen consoles.
