The gaming industry is a behemoth in the digital age with a devout consumer base that is spread on a global scale. And some of the biggest names in this industry are Sony and Microsoft, who possess The PlayStation and The Xbox gaming consoles respectively. Since these consoles are one of the biggest platforms to play the game you love, the companies are constantly trying to one-up each other at every turn.
And while both are consoles used to access the world of gaming, there is a slight edge that Sony possesses over Microsoft, which happens to be in the form of PlayStation Exclusive titles that it manages to snag from the developers. Therefore, to ensure they can take on the tech giant on this front, Microsoft took to a brutal buyout of this particular company.

Today, that debate is between Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox about which one is overall a better deal. While both are capable gaming machines, the PlayStation wins over the Xbox in a very important field, and that’s exclusive games made for Sony’s console.

Therefore, to make this a little less unfair to themselves, the software giant went ahead and bought game developer Bethesda Softworks in 2021 for a staggering $7.5 Billion acquisition. As their then-upcoming titles like Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo were planned ahead to become exclusive titles for PlayStation. And since the Xbox doesn’t boast a good library of exclusives, they saw this as a power move from their end to buy out such a reputable developer.
But with recent reports and a statement by Xbox and Microsoft Gaming’s CEO Phil Spencer, the plan to buy out Bethesda Softworks was due to their upcoming action RPG, titled Starfield, was on its way to becoming yet another title reserved for PlayStation players. Therefore, before this could happen, the console giant went ahead and bought the company, which now gives them a right to a new Xbox exclusive game along with the possibility of a whole slew of exclusives in the future.
