Sydney Sweeney, the actress known for her iconic role as Cassie Howard in HBO’s Euphoria did not exactly have a grand childhood. Being a girl of simple means, the actress grew up in Los Angeles and has a fair share of memories in the city.
Talking about her childhood, Sydney Sweeney recalled a time when she was not that grateful to her grandparents. With a rusty old Volvo by her side, Sweeney revealed that she would hope every day that someone might steal her car. Luckily (or unluckily for her) no one did.
Sydney Sweeney Wanted Somone To Steal Her Car Desperately!
Before finding fame, the actress had already done minor roles in other projects. She found true fame, however, when she starred in HBO’s drama series Euphoria while portraying the character of Cassie Howard.
Although her life would be a lot better now, Sweeney revealed that she did not exactly have the richest childhood. Growing up in Los Angeles, it was even more difficult for the young actress to fit in with the crowd of rich people….especially with her old Volvo. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Sydney Sweeney revealed that she had received her grandparent’s old Volvo and she was very embarrassed to drive it around.
“I have blocked out so much of that time, of my high school life. Going to school in L.A. was so different from back home in Spokane. People’s values were on a whole different level. My grandparents gave me their old Volvo that squirrels were living in. I had to put cardboard on the floor because oil would just spill out everywhere. All the other kids had Range Rovers and BMWs, and I was so embarrassed by my car.”
She further continued that she would purposefully leave the keys in the ignition hoping that someone might steal it and she could get the insurance money.
“I feel bad because I’m so beyond grateful that I had grandparents who were able to give me a car, but I would leave the keys in the ignition hoping someone would steal it so I could take the insurance out on it. No one did.”
Although she had a rough childhood, the actress recalled her memories while growing up in Spokane and stated that she does miss her childhood very much when the world was a whole different color.
Sydney Sweeney Misses Her Childhood Quite Dearly
Sydney Sweeney did not have the best life growing up. And yet, the actress misses her childhood quite dearly. Recalling the memories, Sweeney stated that she used to play sports every day while they were in Spokane.
“In Spokane, I played sports every day. My cousins were always over at my house, teaching me how to start fires with magnifying glasses. I miss my childhood a lot. I miss how beautiful the world looked and I miss having a family unit, my mom and dad and brother all in one place.”
The actress is currently attached to four other upcoming projects where she is working as an actor while also being a producer on the sidelines. Sydney Sweeney can be seen in Euphoria which is currently available to stream on Max in the U.S.
