Every actor has a fair share of good and bad movies in their filmography. However, George Clooney appears to be overly critical of his roles, which he did for the sake of money rather than the creative aspect. Juggling a few odd roles since his inception in Hollywood, Clooney recalled a movie from his early years that he failed to appreciate no matter what.

Although George Clooney occasionally jabs at his appearance in Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin, his role as the Caped Crusader is nothing compared to his 1988 movie. Despite criticizing Schumacher’s project, Clooney mentioned finding Return Of The Killer Tomatoes!, his most unforgivable sin.

George Clooney Criticized Return Of The Killer Tomatoes! 

Juggling a few odd jobs during his prime years, George Clooney successfully made his way into Hollywood during the early 80s. However, he still had a long way to go, before he became a household name. That’s when the actor confessed to doing movies just for the sake of money, rather than its creative aspect.

Reminiscing about his early years in Hollywood, the actor recalled his 1988 movie during an Oscar roundtable talk. Speaking about his $5M movie Return Of The Killer Tomatoes! Clooney confessed that money was the only factor that drove him toward the film. “As an actor, all bets are off if you need money.” the actor shared.

Speaking about the dangers of acting for money, George Clooney thus mentioned why he did Return Of The Killer Tomatoes! The actor confessed, “I’ve done really [crappy] movies or [crappy] jobs when I was broke,” He further added, And people go, ‘Why did you do Return of the Killer Tomatoes?’ Because I got the job!”.

George Clooney Shredded His Role In Batman & Robin 

While George Clooney confessed his utmost hate for Return Of The Killer Tomatoes!, he isn’t changing his mind about 1997’s Batman & Robin. Declaring Joel Schumacher’s movie as a “terrible” experience, the actor later claimed how it “physically hurts” him to watch the film.

Without shying away from his displeasure with the movie, Clooney purposefully opened up about his opinions. Discussing the weirdness of the film, the actor stated, “I couldn’t have done that one differently”. Claiming that his hands were tied, since he was new in the industry, George Clooney took the blame upon himself. 

The truth of the matter is, I was bad in it…I’m terrible in it, I’ll tell you.” Clooney confessed.

Instead of pointing fingers at anyone, George Clooney simply confessed his fault for failing to deliver his best performance. Further stating how he was scarred by the experience, the actor even mentioned warning Ben Affleck before he suited up for the same role as Clooney. However, Affleck didn’t heed his warning and instead delivered an outstanding performance as Batman.
