Mark Wahlberg and The Rock definitely have two things in common. One is being action superstars with rippling bodies, and the other is the 2013 film Pain & Gain, where they acted together. Both of them put a high premium on staying fit and looking like they are Greek gods.
But who among them is the fittest? While Wahlberg has an impressive physique, anyone would tilt their opinions toward The Rock because he’s built like a monster. His DC film Black Adam was a prime example of his muscular physique. However, The Italian Job actor begs to differ. He boasted that he was the fittest after taking away a mega-franchise from him.
Dwayne Johnson Rejected Transformers 4 To Star In A Flop Film
When we think of Hercules, we think of Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, Dwayne Johnson did try to recapture that image with 2014’s Hercules. But he wasn’t really successful. The film grossed only $243 million on a budget of $100 million. Also, it wasn’t loved by audiences either. It has a 58% critic score and an even lesser 48% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
What’s doubly sad is the fact that The Rock turned down Transformers: Age of Extinction to honor his commitment to his film. Here’s the tweet by Dwayne Johnson confirming the same:
As a result, the makers went with Mark Wahlberg, and the film grossed $1.1 billion at the box office, giving the Ted 2 star the global hit he wanted. Now, the actor is firmly a part of the $5.1 billion Transformers franchise history even though he hasn’t starred in any more movies after The Last Knight. Also, to make matters worse for The Rock, Wahlberg claimed that he’s fitter than him.
Mark Wahlberg Boasted That He Could Outdo Dwayne Johnson In Pull-Ups
In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Mark Wahlberg was asked by the host who is better at doing pull-ups: him or Dwayne Johnson. To this, he said that he had a better pull-up game than the Black Adam star. Wahlberg said:
“Oh, I could do more pull-ups than The Rock. I dunno; I did 25 here with a pair of Timberland boots for charity. But the max I do is probably, like, 40, but clean ones. Clean ones!”
The Rock never responded to Wahlberg’s claims, and he probably doesn’t need to either. After all, it was clearly a joke by his Pain & Gain co-star. But will the two action stars ever do a fitness competition for their fans? After all, both of them have been open about the kind of workouts they do and the schedules they follow. While it will be interesting to see, it doesn’t look like such a thing will happen soon.
