Blake Lively is a well-known actress appreciated for her multiple talents, from her fantastic acting abilities seen in projects like The Age of Adeline and A Simple Favour to her fantastic sense of style showcased at The Met Gala every year. She is also very vocal about doing good in the world, using her platform to make a positive impact on the world.
Lively has also recently announced her new brand, Betty Buzz, which makes drink mixers that are only made of clean ingredients, as advertised on the site. This brand has stirred some trouble for the actress as fans are quite upset by her choice of product.
Blake Lively And Her Aversion To Alcohol
Blake Lively has been quite vocal about her dislike of alcoholic beverages. She has stated, to People magazine, that she is not a big fan of this particular vice as she does not like the effect it has on her brain and how she feels after drinking. She added, stating that the drink makes her feel isolated in her own mind and lose touch with reality, something she is not a big fan of.
“I don’t drink because I don’t like the effects of alcohol, but I like being a part of it,” she explained. “I like being social. I like people coming together.” She “found that sometimes not drinking, the thing that was interesting was that it was a little alienating because you don’t feel — and maybe it’s just in your own head — but you just don’t really feel a part of it.”
She went on to say that even though she herself doesn’t drink, she likes being a part of the experience of being around people who are under the influence of alcohol at parties. She elaborated by saying that she likes to be social at parties and events, and likes how the beverage brings people together. These opinions are quite odd as Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, owned his own gin brand, Aviation Gin, for two years before selling it in 2020.
Blake Lively Launches Her Own Alcohol Brand
Having such strong opinions towards the beverage, fans were quite surprised when Blake Lively announced the launch of her new brand, Betty Buzz, named after her daughter, Betty. The brand was advertised as “a great-tasting premium drink mixer made with only clean ingredients,” and the actress stated that even though she does not drink, that is not the point of her product. She revealed that Betty Buzz tastes amazing without alcohol too and that is what matters to her as she cares much more about flavor.
“When we first started talking about this company, one of the conversations that came up was like, ‘Are we going to be pushing a boulder up a hill because you don’t drink and mixers are made to mix with alcohol?’” She continued: “‘I mean, that’s the name of them. So are you going to have credibility in this space as somebody who doesn’t drink?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, because I feel like I’m somebody who really likes the flavor, that’s it for me.’“
Here’s how her fans are reacting to the news:
Many fans were varied in the sentiment behind this brand, thinking it to simply be a cash grab for the actress as they find it odd that the actress has started a mixer company when she has stated on multiple occasions that she does not drink. Some even went as far as to call the actress greedy and looking for an opportunity to make money.
