HBO recently won the entertainment jackpot this year with the stupendous success of the series The Last Of Us. Adapted from the eponymous video game, the show starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey just completed its first season and has received rave reviews not just from video game buffs but also from the general audience.
The season finale broke a number of records with a staggering 8.2 million views despite airing on the same day as the coveted Academy Awards. The apocalyptic zombie series is also the most viewed show ever on HBO’s Europe streaming service. The runaway success of The Last of Us has now inspired other video game franchises to take their content to the big screen and actor Jack Black is at the center of it.
Jack Black Hopes To See A Red Dead Redemption Movie
Hollywood star Jack Black is also known to be an avid gamer. In an interview with BBC, the Kung Fu Panda actor heaped praise on the HBO hit series. Black hailed the show for being loyal to the source material while also retaining the video game feel throughout its storyline. The actor also spoke of another popular video game Red Dead Redemption and the possibility of seeing it translated to the big screen.
“And there are some great games that have yet to be explored in television or film. Maybe there’s going to be a Red Dead Redemption movie? There should be, because I think that [has] just as good or [an] even better story than The Last of Us.”
Red Dead Redemption which deals with the wild west and the decline of the American frontier in 1911, is one of the most sought-after video games in the gaming world. The second installment Red Dead Redemption 2 made a whopping $725 million worldwide.

Jack Black Is A Fan Of Pedro Pascal
Hollywood’s funny man Jack Black is most recently in the news for playing Bowser in the reboot of the 1993 Mario Brothers film, The Super Mario Bros Movie. Speaking of the future of Mario’s arch nemesis and the franchise’s effort to introduce new villains in every installment, Black hailed The Last Of Us actor Pedro Pascal as a perfect choice for a Mario Brothers antagonist.
You know, what if there is a more powerful, more evil villain? Then I may need to be turned to help Mario and the rest to defend our universe against some other unseen force of evil. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Wario. Pedro Pascal is Wario”
Jack Black’s comment might have been inspired by a recent Saturday Night Live sketch by Pascal, where the actor enthralled audiences with his version of the Italian plumber. Following his brilliant portrayal, fans took to social media to request the makers of the Mario Brothers reboot to replace Chris Pratt with Pedro Pascal for the role of Mario.
