Jamie Foxx started his career in the performance arts as a stand-up comic. He went on stage after his girlfriend dared him to do so and then became a regular at open mics. He later changed his name from Eric Marlon Bishop to his present stage name Jamie Foxx.

In 1991, the actor received recognition when he starred in the sketch comedy show In Living Color. The show was known for onboarding then-unknown comedians such as Jim Carrey, Foxx, and David Alan Grier. Actress Jeniffer Lopez also had her breakthrough in the show. After that, Foxx received his own sitcom titled The Jamie Foxx Show which he co-created and produced. The show ran for five seasons.

Foxx then starred in acclaimed films such as Micheal Mann’s Ali and Collateral, breaking into dramatic roles. The actor starred in Ray, a biopic on singer Ray Charles and won the Academy Award for Best Actor for it. The actor’s career has skyrocketed since then, starring in films such as Django Unchained, Jarhead, White House Down, and Miami Vice. Earlier this year in April, Jamie Foxx was hospitalized following a medical emergency. His daughter Corrine announced the news without revealing the causes of his condition but mentioned that the actor was on the road to recovery. Reports indicated that the actor was receiving treatment at a facility in Chicago that dealt with brain injuries and strokes. Neither Foxx nor his team confirmed the news.

In May, the actor opened up to fans about his condition and treatment process, refuting rumors of suffering vision loss and paralysis. Foxx posted a video on his social media addressing his condition,

“I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through…I know a lot of people were waiting and, you know, wanting to hear updates but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that.”

The actor also apparently threw a party at his rehabilitation facility in July. Recently, the actor shared a series of photos of himself, expressing his gratitude for his healing journey. The actor also thanked his fans and other well-wishers for getting him through his ordeal. He wrote a caption,

“You’re lookin at a man who is thankful… finally startin to feel like myself… it’s been an unexpected dark journey… but I can see the light….I will be thanking all of you personally… and if you didn’t know… GOD IS GOOD… all day every day…”

The actor seems to be healing from his condition and recovering well.

Foxx is all set to make a comeback with the film Strays, where he lends his voice along with Will Ferrell. The film will release on August 18.
