The veil of uncertainty finally seems to be lifting off of Henry Cavill’s career with a brand new project in the works.
Following all the chaos that has been unraveling in DC Studios, the Man of Steel star came forward to shed light on his position in the franchise with devastating news for fans. The British actor officially announced his departure from the DCU as the fan-favorite Superman, confirming the rumors that a Man of Steel sequel starring him is out of the picture.
But as one door closed for him, another one bubbling with a golden opportunity seems to have opened up for the Dawn of Justice star who is now set to lead a Warhammer 40,000 live-action series instead.
A Warhammer 40,000 Live-Action Series Starring Henry Cavill is in the Works
Amidst all this despondent news concerning Henry Cavill‘s career at DC Studios comes a silver lining for the actor.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, a live-action adaptation of the popular miniature wargame, Warhammer 40,000, is said to be in progress at Amazon with Cavill’s name attached to it. Not only will the Justice League star be leading the series but he is also set to executive produce it along with Vertigo Entertainment.
At the moment, the project doesn’t have any writers or directors on board since Amazon is still in talks to acquire the rights to the sci-fi/fantasy video game. But once that is dealt with, the early stages of development for the live-action series are likely to commence.
Produced by Games Workshop, Warhammer 40,000 is a renowned sci-fi/fantasy videogame. Set forty thousand years into the future with nothing but the stench of war everywhere, the game is based on humans constantly battling with otherworldly, magical creatures and demons. And Cavill being the geek that he is, is a huge fan of the game. Safe to say he’s the perfect fit for the adaptation series.
Henry Cavill’s Career Sparks Up Again With the Warhammer Project in Line
Just a day ago, Cavill dropped a huge bombshell on the DC fandom when he revealed that he is indeed going to have to step down as Superman, and this time for good. “My turn to wear the cape has passed,” he said in an Instagram post addressing millions.
This heartbreaking news follows merely a month or so after the Enola Holmes star was reinstated as the Man of Steel in the superhero franchise. So it definitely couldn’t have been easy for him to deliver such an unfortunate piece of news, especially since he was so genuinely attached to this character. And then there’s the bit about him leaving Netflix’s The Witcher too. Clearly, he hasn’t been having the best couple of months.
But with the news of Cavill leading a Warhammer live-action series, his career is certainly likely to brighten up along with his fans who probably have been wallowing just as much.
More information about the Warhammer 40,000 live-action series is yet to be disclosed.
