Jamie Foxx sparked a firestorm on the Internet when he shared an Instagram post that was interpreted as anti-Semitic. The Django Unchained actor, currently on the mend from a health scare suffered on the set of Netflix’s Back in Action, swiftly issued a public apology in the wake of the backlash.
Now, mere days after the controversial post, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actor was seen in public with his ex-girlfriend, Kristin Grannis, with whom he shares 15-year-old daughter, Annalise.
Jamie Foxx’s Controversial Anti-Semitic Post And Aftermath
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Jamie Foxx sent a message to certain “fake friends,” quoting the lines “They killed this dude named Jesus… What do you think they’ll do to you???!”. The online community was quick to respond, accusing Foxx of targeting the Jewish community. Some critics believed that “They” in his post referred to Jewish people, promoting the anti-Semitic idea that Jews should be blamed for the crucifixion of Jesus.
The Annie actor promptly realized his mistake, taking down the post and issuing an apology after facing severe criticism. The Law Abiding Citizen actor clarified that he had never intended to propagate anti-Semitic sentiments and expressed remorse:
“I want to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by my post. I now know my choice of words have caused offense and I’m sorry. That was never my intent. To clarify, I was betrayed by a fake friend and that’s what I meant with ‘they’ not anything more. I only have love in my heart for everyone. I love and support the Jewish community. My deepest apologies to anyone who was offended.”
Jennifer Aniston, his Horrible Bosses co-star, also became entangled in the controversy after it was discovered that she had liked Foxx’s Instagram post. The FRIENDS actress later disavowed The Kingdom actor’s remarks, asserting that she does not tolerate any form of hate directed at any community.
Jamie Foxx Was Spotted With Ex-Girlfriend Seemingly Healthy
Following his apology, Jamie Foxx was spotted with his ex-girlfriend, Kristin Grannis, even as reports circulated that the Miami Vice actor was still recovering from his recent illness. Foxx appeared to be in good health, donning a graphic-printed black sweater, matching joggers, white sneakers, and stylish sunglasses. The Baby Driver actor was seen exchanging a few words with Grannis.
A few celebrities and fans came in defense of the 55-year-old actor during the controversy. Jewish actor David Krumholtz defended Foxx, asserting that he did not interpret the post as antisemitic. Music producer Breyon Presscot also voiced support for the Ray actor, emphasizing the actor’s reputation for harboring no animosity toward colleagues.
While dealing with the controversy and health challenges, the Collateral actor is sure to be feeling the stress. The question remains whether he will stage a strong comeback in the face of these career-threatening allegations.
