Actor Mel Gibson’s highly publicized and controversial relationship with Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva attracted significant media attention as Gibson was accused of physically assaulting the woman.
For a long time, they fought court battles over their assets and custody of their daughter. In 2016, the Russian singer asked the family law judge to increase her child support from $20,000 a month to over $100,000 a month. The case was settled and Gibson agreed to pay just under $30,000 in child support each month. Gibson didn’t hold back as he decided to sell the property he bought with Oksana Grigorieva in 2009.
Mel Gibson’s ex-girlfriend asked for more money
Back in 2016, actor Mel Gibson‘s ex-girlfriend, Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva, asked the judge to increase her child support from $20,000 a month to $100,000 a month for taking care of Gibson’s daughter, Lucia.
She specifically demanded more than $10,000 for security, however, the case was closed and Gibson was ordered to pay just under $30,000 each month in child support. Gibson, being the well-known star in the industry, agreed to pay the amount every month.
Mel Gibson sold the property in which Oksana Grigorieva was living
In 2009, Gibson and Grigorieva bought a Sherman Oaks Estate for $2.4 million. A few months after Grigorieva demanded more money in child support, Gibson decided to sell the property for $2.575 million.
Gibson agreed to the aforementioned child support only if Grigorieva moved out of the house. As soon as she moved out, he put up the 3,468 square foot home on sale. Their relationship was quite controversial, mainly because Gibson ended his 28-year-long marriage with Robyn Moore and started dating the Russian singer. The age difference between the two also sparked several debates.
Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva ended their relationship in 2010
Sources claim that Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva started dating in 2008 after Gibson’s separation from his wife of 28 years, Robyn Moore. In 2009, the two welcomed a daughter named Lucia. However, things soon took a turn.
In 2010, Grigorieva accused Gibson of domestic violence, alleging that he physically assaulted her during an argument and punched her several times. The singer initially demanded $15 million in her settlement with the actor, however, the court eventually settled the case on $750,000 and Gibson agreed to pay her in three installments.
The judge warned Grigorieva not to speak publicly about the case, however, in 2013, she talked about it on The Howard Stern Show. At that point, Gibson had already paid her one of the $250,000 installments, but since she talked about the case publicly, the California Court of Appeals ruled that Gibson won’t have to pay her the remaining $500,000.
