Over the last few years, Lily-Rose Depp has found herself in a pile of controversies following Johnny Depp’s situation. Previously ridiculed by the internet for not taking a stand for her father at his lowest point, The King actress seems to have once again found herself in a muddy situation after the recent revelations of the upcoming show, The Idol, starring her at its forefront.
Even before the release of HBO’s The Idol, which follows the relationship between Lily-Rose’s character and The Weeknd’s character Tedros, the show has found itself surrounded by a pile of controversies following its disturbing theme.
Lily-Rose Depp’s upcoming show The Idol has a disturbing theme
Ever since the release of the trailer for the upcoming HBO show The Idol, which appeared as a twisted version of Euphoria, both the show and Lily-Rose Depp, have been surrounded by a lot of drama. And following the new report by Rolling Stone, fans have shared their distaste over the actress’ upcoming show.
Multiple sources reported that the upcoming show, which was set to be a satire on the exploitation in Hollywood has now become the very thing it was satirizing. The sources claimed that the new creation from the mind of Sam Levinson, who is synonymous with using the trope of s*x and drugs, is just a r*pe fantasy and torture p*rn. One source stated,
“What I signed up for was a dark satire of fame and the fame model in the 21st century. The things that we subject our talent and stars to, the forces that put people in the spotlight, and how that can be manipulated in the post-Trump world.”
Another one said,
“It went from satire to the thing it was satirizing. It was like any r*pe fantasy that any toxic man would have in the show and then the woman comes back for more because it makes her music better,”
Apart from the disturbing theme of the upcoming HBO show, it appears that the show has also been through a production mess due to the constant firing and reshooting of certain aspects of the show.
The Idol is suffering through production hell
According to sources, the upcoming show, starring Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd at its forefront, has suffered from several reshoots and rewrites to meet the twisted vision of Sam Levinson. And it seems that the firing of the original director of the show, Amy Seimetz, and last-minute changes, has not only ballooned its budget but also made it plain exploitative instead of the satire it was supposed to be.
Following the controversies, there have been currently no updates on the premiere date of the show. And it appears that the controversies surrounding Lily-Rose Depp aren’t looking to slow down anytime soon.
No official release date for The Idol has been announced.
