Even though Hollywood can be a serious industry, celebrities frequently show their lighter sides. And what better way to demonstrate their comedic nuance than by making fun of others? Matt Damon and George Clooney’s friendship is one such bond that has often shown their lighter and funnier sides.
These two have a lifelong, unbreakable bond, much like other co-stars from sitcoms, or other areas of entertainment. The Good Will Hunting actor once gave a speech about his beloved old friend. In that speech, he also disclosed a previous Clooney prank that had gone way too far.
Damon was completely open in his speech at the 45th Kennedy Center Honors. The 52-year-old actor exposed a hilariously horrifying prank-gone-wrong story about his 62-year-old best friend.
Let’s find out what the Batman and Robin actor did!
Matt Damon Disclosed A Wild George Clooney Prank
It is not often that we hear about Hollywood A-listers doing strange things, but Matt Damon once revealed something about his close pal, George Clooney that had everyone in stitches.
George Clooney is a well-known prankster, but at the 45th Annual Kennedy Center Honors, the world was reminded just how far he could be willing to go for a laugh. Damon honored his friend and former co-star with an unexpected speech in a teaser for the 2022 Kennedy Center Honors that was released by E! News. The Martian actor claimed:
“My friend George Clooney is said to be the last of the true movie stars. So I got to thinking about exactly what that meant. Of course, a number of past Kennedy Center honorees have certainly been movie stars in that classic sense. Actors with class and sophistication — Cary Grant, Henry Fonda, Paul Newman, Gregory Peck.”
Moreover, the Air actor did not end there:
“And then I think of George. A man who defected in Richard Kind’s kitty litter box as a joke. A man who once stole Bill Clinton’s stationery and wrote fake notes to actors, saying how much the President loved their movies.”
George Clooney, and Matt Damon Are Close friends For a Long Time
George Clooney and Matt Damon have been close friends for more than 20 years. And during that time, the Interstellar actor witnessed many changes in his best friend.
Not only has Clooney transformed from a TV star to an Oscar-winning actor and producer, but the father of twins has also established a career as a director. He has worked on movies like Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), Good Night, and Good Luck (2005), and The Monuments Men (2014).
Although the 62-year-old actor has changed in some ways, Damon still sees him as largely the same person, as PEOPE reported:
“The two first met in 1999, right when Clooney was coming off of his breakout, Emmy-nominated stint on NBC’s ER.”
Clooney and Damon’s friendship began to blossom after they starred together in Ocean’s Eleven in 2001. Thus, the two have collaborated on various projects over the years. They appeared in the two Ocean’s Eleven films, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Syriana, and Monument’s Men.
Hence, fans would undoubtedly want to see these two collaborate on more films given the impressive list of movies they have each starred in.
Well, it is always entertaining to hear stories (or pranks) from friends. But when one of those friends is an infamous prankster like George Clooney, some of these tales can get more hilarious.
