It seems like there is a fresh rumor circulating about the actor who will take on the iconic role of James Bond virtually every week. Henry Cavill, Regé-Jean Page, and Tom Hardy have been among the most often suggested actors (per Vogue) since Daniel Craig left the role—that is, until recently. With reference to his bid to become the next 007, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, whose most recent performance was in the Brad Pitt film Bullet Train, had a positive meeting with producers.
Although there has been no official word on who will play the position, fans can back Taylor-Johnson as the new Bond because of his rising Hollywood celebrity background, his rugged good looks that fit the character, and his memorable accent. The fact that taylor-johnson’s filmography is full of films that show why he would make a good James Bond is maybe the most significant.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson previously beat Henry Cavill for a role in Godzilla
The 2014 American monster movie Godzilla was helmed by Gareth Edwards. When Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Edwards first met, they discussed the character’s structure for six hours. Taylor-Johnson praised Edwards for approaching the movie as a “big-budget art film” and claimed that Edwards added an element of “intimacy” to it. He stated,
“I think he went for the right balance of sensitivity and testosterone. I’ve probably been more emotionally challenged in this film than in any independent drama or thriller”.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt allegedly turned down the part of Ford when it was offered to him in 2012. Before Legendary expressed interest in Taylor-Johnson, the shortlist for the role included Henry Cavill, Scoot McNairy, and Caleb Landry Jones.
Martin Campbell addresses the shortlist made for the next James Bond
Martin Campbell, the director of the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale and the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye, responds to the rumored claim made around Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Over the course of the character’s six-decade tenure on the big screen, James Bond has been portrayed by six different actors, the most recent of whom was Daniel Craig. When his Bond was slain in No Time To Die, his tenure as 007 came to an end, ostensibly indicating that a reboot and new Bond actor were on the way. Campbell has recently opened up about his experience working on James Bond films, including remarks on Henry Cavill’s potential casting and the audition process.
In an interview with Express.co.uk, Campbell shared his knowledge of the Taylor-Johnson casting rumor and stated unequivocally that it had no merit.
“Let me tell you, [the casting rumors are] bulls*** mostly. 98 per cent of it is bulls***. It’s rubbish, honestly, it is. I’m sure what they’ve done is thrown some names about…they don’t rush it. There’s no, ‘Oh god we’ve got to make the next one!’ They take their time as they want to get it right.”
The pressure is on Aeon Productions to choose well when casting this role, however, Campbell did give Taylor-Johnson a “maybe” for a shot to land it.
