Well, well, well…it seems that every person on Earth will now be able to kill like Keanu Reeves’ John Wick does. Although the news hasn’t been confirmed yet, the Lionsgate boss talked about it in a conference that a John Wick game is indeed in the works.

Stating that the franchise will continue further, Joe Drake, the motion picture chairman confirmed that a fifth part of the franchise is in the early stages of development. Alongside this, he also confirmed that they were looking to expand the universe beyond the scope of AAA games!

Keanu Reeves’ John Wick Will Be Turned Into A Video Game

It had been a pretty long time coming. With action sequences, gun fights, levels, and final bosses, the John Wick franchise looked and worked pretty similar to a video game. Since this is something that the fans would highly enjoy and anticipate, a John Wick game has been announced to be in development.

During the earnings call of Lionsgate for Q4 of 2023, chairman Joe Drake confirmed that a video game is in development. He also revealed that the game was of AAA status. Drake stated that they were expanding the John Wick franchise beyond the scope of video games and added that spin-offs, TV shows, and else will also be soon added to the John Wick cinematic universe.

“We’re now moving across that franchise, not just in the AAA video game space, but looking at what the regular cadence of spin-offs, television really growing that universe so that there is a steady cadence of a franchise that there’s clear appetite by the audience,”

The news spread on Twitter as people had several opinions to state about the upcoming game and how it should be made. Hoping that it should not be another failed movie-to-video game adaptation, people were both excited and scared of this news.

Well, a John Wick video game would be super cool for people to play wherein they could either play John Wick or a random assassin rising through the ranks under John Wick. Since Keanu Reeves has already worked in a video game before, it shouldn’t be a difficult task for Reeves to fulfill.

In an interview with Collider, producer Erica Lee talked about additional details regarding the upcoming game. As per the speculations, it seems that Keanu ReevesJohn Wick franchise will deviate and adopt an open-world gameplay design for the game.

“we’re doing a video game. I think it’s soon. I think it’s soon. I mean, we’re deeply working on it, so it’s not years away.”

There has been no release date announced yet for the video game but fans have faith that Keanu Reeves will take personal care not to mess with the video gaming industry. The Keanu Reeves starrer John Wick: Chapter 4 is available to buy digitally on Apple TV+ in the U.S.
