When people talk about anime or manga in popular culture, the face and the intensity-building scream of Goku, the main protagonist of the insanely popular Dragon Ball series comes to everyone’s mind, and rightfully so. Widely regarded as one of, if not the biggest and most iconic anime franchises in history, the series lives up to the hype and delivers on it with unmatched precision.
And one of the biggest flexes that the anime regularly showcases is the over-the-top episodes where one of the many Saiyans enters their legendary Super Saiyan mode and decimates their opponents. Many years ago, one such episode crashed the internet when Goku entered a new form of his legendary transformation, and now, people are asking whether Monkey D. Luffy can achieve the same level with his highly-anticipated Gear 5.
How Goku’s Ultra Instinct In Dragon Ball Super Broke The Internet
In October in the year 2017, the internet was in an uproar when in the one-hour special episode of Dragon Ball Super, Goku broke the barriers of strength and shackles of his consciousness to enter the fabled Ultra Instinct mode of transformation, which lets the fighter’s body to subconsciously attack and defend irrespective of their thoughts. This episode was the pinnacle of anime hype, the likes of which the world had never seen before.

And for good reason too, as during the Tournament Of Power, the fighters from Earth were being beaten left and right by Jiren the Gray, who was overpowering even the Saiyans with little effort. To counter this, Goku achieved the power of Ultra Instinct after receiving a world-destroying Spirit Bomb, which led to the most adrenaline-pumping fight sequences in anime history. With so much build-up behind the episode, it was still astonishing to see the amount of craze it generated among the fans.
But the cherry on top was the fact that even with that amount of tremendous power, the Saiyan couldn’t unleash the full potential of his new transformation, which baffled the audience, seeing as Lord Beerus himself said that Goku had surpassed him with his initial change in form. This confirmed that he still has room to grow strong beyond anyone’s wildest comprehensive abilities.
And now, after six long years, the internet might experience a similar event as Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of Eiichioro Oda‘s legendary manga One Piece is all set to unleash a devastating power in the anime.
