Clint Eastwood has a remarkable acting and direction career which took years to solidify his legacy in Hollywood. His leading roles in the films got him a cultural icon of masculinity status meanwhile his direction style set him apart eventually making him a legend of Hollywood cinema.
Clint Eastwood Wanted to Direct Sylvester Stallone’s Expendables 3
For the third installment, he approached a few iconic Hollywood legends including Clint Eastwood for an action part. However, he was not much excited to hear about working as an actor in the film. On being asked if he would act, he shared to ExtraTV, ”Probably not.”
However, he was quick to offer an alternative to join hands with the former.
“I’m probably more apt to direct something. Maybe I’ll direct Expendables 3 .”
While his work in the action genre would have been quite a classic, he mentioned he had no idea of the franchise at all.
“I haven’t had the opportunity to see [ The Expendables ] yet. I haven’t read any material.”
It was obvious that he was not familiar with the franchise with Patrik Hughes who made his debut with 2010’s Red Hill directed the project.
Sylvester Stallone Knew Bringing Clint Eastwood Won’t Be an Easy Task
Although Stallone was really looking forward to having Eastwood in the action film, he mentioned that bringing him on board was not was he was sure of.
“Well, you know Clint is so involved with what he’s doing, so that’s kind of a pipe dream.”
Not just the Rawhide star, he also approached 3 times Academy Award winner, Jack Nicholson but he was unable to reach him on time. He mentioned that he wants to work with great actors from the past which is a difficult quest on its own since time is not flowing in reverse.
“I want to get, if possible, the most unique actors from the past and just put ‘em on there once and for all, if we can.”
He continued,
“It just seems like an interesting quest to do that, because I don’t know if it’s ever going to happen again; we’re certainly not getting any younger.”
