Superhero movies have become the most profitable genre in the industry in recent years, and Marvel and DC stars have found a certain level of fame from the roles they took. But, now and then, these celebrities get candid about their performance or the overall impact of the project they once starred in.
Many Marvel and DC actors have been vocal about their hatred towards films they worked on in the past, and they all have intriguing reasons for doing so. While some of the movies mentioned were evidently box office bombs, the actors have luckily redeemed themselves in their later projects.
5. George Clooney – Batman & Robin (1997)
The infamous Bat-nipples was popularized by George Clooney in Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin. The actor once thought his decision to take on the role of the Caped Crusader was a wise one, only for it to haunt him forever.
He said on The Graham Norton Show via Independent:
“I always apologize for Batman & Robin. I thought at the time that this was going to be a very good career move. It wasn’t.”
Clooney believed he destroyed the franchise, and he would always regret it. He even admitted not wanting his wife to see it because he was totally embarrassed.
4. Halle Berry – Catwoman (2004)
Winning an Oscar in 2002 was the highlight of Halle Berry’s profession as an actress, but taking home the Razzie Award for her performance in Catwoman definitely moved her career to new heights. The actress had always known the film was going to flop, and for many years, she carried the weight of its failure, but she soon realized that it wasn’t entirely her fault.
When asked why she attended the Razzie Awards, she only wanted to show people that it’s no fun taking ourselves seriously all the time. She noted that if one cannot be a good loser, then one does not deserve to be a good winner.

3. Ben Affleck – Daredevil (2003)
Nobody hates Daredevil as much as Ben Affleck does. The Justice League star has once admitted the reason he pushed for the role of Batman was to escape from the shackles of his Daredevil portrayal.
Affleck told Playboy magazine via IndieWire:
“The only movie I actually regret is Daredevil. It just kills me. I love that story, that character, and the fact that it got f—ked up the way it did stays with me.”
Despite fans’ qualms about him repeating the same mistake he did in Marvel, the actor managed to redeem himself and become one of the best versions of Batman.
2. Jessica Alba – Fantastic Four (2005)
Jessica Alba is one of the first actresses to ever join the superhero movie phenomenon. While she looked gorgeous in a spandex suit, the star did not enjoy her time as Marvel’s Sue Storm aka Invisible Woman. In fact, she almost wanted to quit acting because of a harrowing experience from the movie’s director.
She told Elle magazine via Hollywood that filmmaker Tim Story said her dying scene in Silver Surfer looked too real and too painful and asked if she could cry prettier. This comment made her question her skills.
“It all got me thinking: Am I not good enough? Are my instincts and my emotions not good enough? And so, I just said, ‘F—k it. I don’t care about this business anymore.’”
1. Ryan Reynolds – Green Lantern (2011)
The Deadpool actor has trolled his own Green Lantern movie numerous times on social media. He has acknowledged the film as a huge disaster, though he was able to meet his now-wife Blake Lively on the movie’s set, so he really did not go home empty-handed.
Ryan Reynolds recently voiced his opinion on what went wrong in the DC movie, and he noted that much of the setback was on spending more money on special effects rather than focusing on the character.
