Johnny Depp is globally acclaimed for his fabulous work in top-rated movies. Working in the movie industry since 1987, Depp has established a relatively successful career of nearly 36 years. He is renowned for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series to date, and even now fans want him to return to the Disney series after his messy divorce drama with Amber Heard.
However, disappointing reports and updates about Johnny Depp’s rumored comeback to the Disney franchise have left the $4.5B franchise shattered.
Johnny Depp’s Disappointing Update on Disney Comeback
Johnny Depp used to be listed among the highest-paid actors in Hollywood until he was alleged of domestic violence by his ex-wife, Amber Heard. After rumors regarding the allegations surfaced, Disney reportedly fired Depp from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, putting his career in a somewhat crisis.
After clearing his name from all legal allegations by Heard, with fans desperate for the 60-year-old actor to return to the franchise, in June 2022, rumors spread that Depp would be returning to Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise as they have struck an alleged deal of nearly $300M for the actor’s comeback.
However, one of Johnny Depp’s representatives has left the franchise shattered as he cleared up this rumor, calling it ‘made up’ and claiming this is not the case. During Depp’s defamation trial against Heard as well, the actor firmly stated that he would not return to the franchise even if Disney came to him with ‘$300M and a million alpacas’.
Rumors About Johnny Depp’s Comeback Keep Popping Up
Johnny Depp has played the remarkable character of Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series for five movies. However, even after being a part of the franchise for nearly 15 years, Disney ‘abandoned’ Depp during the time of the Amber Heard controversy, when he needed its support the most. So, it’s only fair that Depp doesn’t return to the franchise.
Nevertheless, news spread earlier this year that Disney has issued a public apology to the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory actor, inviting him back to the franchise. While rumors about Pirates of the Caribbean 6 have also been circulating lately, there is no confirmed news if Johnny Depp will finally be returning to the $4.5B franchise or not.
Thus, as of now, with the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 official release date not yet revealed, fans will just have to wait and hope that Depp finally reclaims his position in the franchise.
