Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers are actors who are in a league of their own. The former has ruled fans heart’s with his immaculate comic timing while the latter’s net worth is estimated to be around $200 million. The two veterans are without a doubt a class apart. One wouldn’t be amiss to say a movie the duo was a part of would go on to break all charts. And (surprise! surprise!), their collaboration would go on to set the standard for the industry.
Weaving the magic
Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy plied their voice services for Shrek. The DreamWorks Studio franchise remains to be one of the most loved animated franchises by kids (and certain adults) alike. There was indeed some magic in that franchise.
Shrek hit the theatres in 2001. And the world, as we know it, was swept by its craze. The movie was a commercial success, making $490 million back in the day. And the franchise didn’t turn back.
Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy breathed life into Shrek
The Shrek franchise would not only go on to win fans’ hearts but would make a bucket load of money as well. The franchise would go on to become the second highest-grossing animated film of all time, second only to the Despicable Me franchise.
No wonder the people at the helm of the film played their role in making Shrek the success it was. Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy included. The duo, who lent their voices to Shrek and Donkey respectively, were the recipient of loads of adulation. And not to mention, money!

Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy were paid a fortune for Shrek
Shrek and Donkey were the heart of the $4 billion franchise. Their rapport is in part down to their voice actors. Mike Myers, who voiced Shrek, brought heart to the character. Add to that his deadpan sense of humor, we had our favorite ogre. Eddie Murphy, a veteran comedian, breathed life into the franchise with his portrayal of Donkey.
Their earning from the movies leaves no doubt about their importance for the project. The Wayne’s World star earned 3$ million for his role in the first film, followed by $15 million for each subsequent appearance. The Beverly Hill Cops star on the other hand earned $3 million for his first role, while making $10 million for each sequel.
All that for playing the role of an ogre and a donkey! Now that rumors are rife that a fifth Shrek is on the way, they might be looking to add more to their coffers.
