Starfield has been out for a few days as Premium Edition or Constellation Edition buyers got early access on the 1st of this month. In just 3 days since release, some have completed the main campaign to check out the New Game+ mode, while others have been busy creating iconic characters. Starfield does have a lot to offer for gamers, regardless of their playing style, and one of the main themes in the game is said to be Religion.
Starfield is said to feature three main religions in the game – the Enlightened, the Universal, and then there’s House Va’ruun, a religion that’s also known as the Serpent’s Embrace. Players will have the choice to follow one of them or discard them all at once.
Starfield Religions Explained, Gamers Can Either Choose Their Preferred Religion Or Discard Totally
Each religion has its own share of advantages and drawbacks. While players can always turn them all down while creating their character in the game, there is no option to pick more than one in Starfield. Each religion will also come with its own penalties and specific bonuses so when players pick one of the religions, they will lock out the other two from being selected. Players will have the choice to discard their chosen religion at a later stage though with the players losing all their bonuses as well. However, there will be no option to choose another religion, so players will be left without a religion.
Now that the base is covered, players can make an informed choice to choose their preferred religion as they head to their space adventure. The 3 available religions for Starfield gamers are explained below.

Raised Enlightened Brings A Chest Of Goodies For Starfield Gamers
The main advantage of the Enlightened faith is the chest of goodies that players get access to right at the beginning. There is a church in New Atlantis on Jemison, that players can find by heading to the Terrabrew which is near the spaceport. Once there, players can use the elevator on the left to go to The Well. Here, players must turn to the left once they step out of the elevator, where they can find the House of the Enlightened, where players can find the chest inside, on the left.
This is what players can expect to obtain from the chest:
Charity in a Godless Universe: Part I, II, III, and IV (books)
1x Drink Pack: Water
5x Med Pack
2x Penicillin X
1x Settler Poncho Outfit
These can be quite useful for the players during the beginning of their campaign, so if this religion is chosen, players must head to find the chest immediately as it might not be worth as much if players decide to collect it at a later stage.
Raised Universal Also Brings A Chest Of Goodies, Albeit With Discrepancies
The Raised Universal also offers players a very similar chest of goodies as the Enlightened, but not as good as the former. Players can find the chest for Raised Universal at New Atlantis. The easiest way to get there is to leave the Lodge, and on the right side, players can follow the park towards the Commercial District. Players will find a door with a big gold symbol above it, once players get inside and head down the steps they can find the chest on the left, right next to the door that leads to the Father’s office.
Here’s the content of the chest for Raised Universal:
2x Addichrone
1x Boom Pop! Orange
2x Heart+
1x Festive Neocity Poncho
6x Med Pack
Sanctum Universum, Vol 1, 2, and 3 (books)
Just as in the Enlightened religion, players must pick up the chest as soon as they can, as the items are quite useful only at the beginning of the campaign.
Serpent’s Embrace Is The Best Religion Players Can Choose
The reason why Serpent’s Embrace is the best religion that players can choose to adopt in the game is the substantial perks the religion provides, among many others. Serpent’s Embrace provides players with a +25 Health and O2 which lasts for four hours, every time players grav jump in their ship. The downside of the religion is that players also get penalized for the same stats if they don’t grav jump every four hours. Considering how easy it is for players to grav jump and how often they might actually use it, they might just never get penalized.
Serpent’s Embrace also unlocks a very specific dialogue with the zealots. While all religions have their own unique dialogues, the dialogs that unlock with the other two religions are far less of a general threat, so players can actually often pacify others with the dialogs that unlock when they choose Serpent’s Embrace.
That concludes the details of the three religions present in the game for players to pick and choose from, depending on their chosen traits. Starfield releases in two days on the 6th of this month for gamers who pre-ordered the standard edition.
