“I think it’s going to be a movie that evokes conversation. And I think it’s going to be beautifully visually appealing. John Cena was only in Barbie because he met the director by chance while filming Fast X nearby. Cena approached Barbie star and producer Margot Robbie determinedly and enthusiastically about a cameo role. Robbie was so impressed by Cena’s dedication that he invited him to join the project, ultimately leading to his surprising casting as Merman Ken.

The Barbie cast list is amazing. The Fast X cast list is amazing. It was a chance to [say], ‘Hey, would you guys be willing to have me if I could do something?'”
