Sony Considering ‘Spider-Verse’ TV Spinoffs

The Sony CEO states that the studio is "considering" developing television projects based on characters from Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse

According to The New York Times, Sony and Marvel are developing tv shows based on characters from Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida states that the studio is “considering” developing television projects based on Spider-Verse characters, which recently won a Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature. Not much else is known about these projects at this time.

The Hollywood Reporter had broken the news that Sony is also developing an animated Spider-Women feature! The movie, penned by Bek Smith and produced by Chris Lord and Phil Miller, would focus on three generations of Spider-Women, including Spider-Gwen. Spider-Woman, Madame Web, Spider-Girl and Silk.

According to THR, Lauren Montgomery (Voltron, Batman: Year One) is in talks to direct the female team-up film:

“Lauren Montgomery, who also worked on Voltron and co-directed animated movies Batman: Year One and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse for DC, is in negotiations to helm an untitled Spider-centric project that will gather the female heroes in the Spider-Man universe of characters in one adventure. Bek Smith, who wrote episodes of CBS show Zoo, will pen the script.”

Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse stars Shameik Moore, Jake Johnson, Nicholas Cage, Hailee Steinfeld, John Mulaney, Lily Tomlin and Kimiko Glenn. Check out the synopsis below:
