Just a couple of hours ago, Ryan Reynolds dropped an Instagram video. The video was actually the trailer for his upcoming movie, Detective Pikachu. Everyone’s favorite anime, Pokemon is now a live action movie and is about to hit theaters next summer.

Check out the official trailer below:

The movie stars Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu and Justice Smith as its trainer. The trailer shows how the two partner up to set up on an adventure in the hunt for other pokemon. We get a glimpse of Bulbasaur, Squirttel, Mr. Mime and many more.

The trailer ends with Pikachu about to be swallowed by Charizard. The movie however has a twist. Unlike the anime where Pikachu is nothing but Pika Pika, this Ryan Reynolds Pikachu can actually speak the human tongue. I mean its Ryan Reynolds and he is definitely not going to settle just for “repeating two words.”

Check out the official synopsis below:

“Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.”

Detective Pikachu hits theaters on May 10th, 2019.
