Starfield is a massive game in general, with a plethora of activities to do. From flying ships, smuggling stuffed animals, and building outposts to collecting artifacts, which is one of the primary motives of the game. Since this space RPG is so vast with endless possibilities, these are 15 things that players should be aware of before diving into the space adventure.

Players shouldn’t put too much time into choosing a background or trait
During Starfield’s first campaign mission, “One Small Step,” players are told to choose their backstory. It’s an essential step since the backstory of your character determines three skills they’ll start the game with and three traits, which are optional perks. Since there are too many choices which doesn’t really alter the game, spending too much time pondering upon this is unnecessary.
Players must get the Boost Pack Training, Security, and Persuasion skills early in the game
Starfield has a total of 82 skills with four ranks each. Aside from the three skills your character already starts with, players should focus on acquiring these three skills as it’ll make their campaign experience rather effortless.
Joining factions in the world of Starfield
There are four factions in the game that players can join: the United Colonies Vanguard, the Crimson Fleet, the Freestar Rangers, and Ryujin Industries. Each faction has its own side missions and rewards the player with sweet gear and a ton of XP5. The best part about this is that players don’t need to commit to just one faction.
There are a lot of menus in Fast Travelling and Navigation
Navigating through the Settled Systems in Starfield requires a lot of interaction with the menu. There are a lot of options for fast travel, as players can choose to traverse on the surface of the planet or between planets and systems.
Reading Signs Will Be Important
Starfield, being a game of such a massive scale, doesn’t have a minimap. Figuring out the layout of a city or the surface of a planet would require some active skills on the player’s part. Players will be required to identify certain buildings, vendors, or landmarks to make their way through a large settlement.
Utilizing the scanner to find your way through the unknown lands
Players will need to use their head scanner to find out their objectives. There will be more than one marker in the player’s HUD to indicate their primary mission and other options and objectives. Players use LB on the console or F on the PC to determine what each blue diamond indicates.
There are several kinds of Ammos
Starfield doesn’t have an ammo category like rifle or sniper. Instead, the vast arsenal of weapons uses a specific kind of ammo from a long list of ammo. Players must know what kind of bullet their favorite weapon uses to add more to their inventory.
Ammos have zero mass
In Starfield, ammos don’t have any weight, which implies that players can dill up on ammos without getting their inventory space compromised. Med packs and digipacks also have zero mass, which makes the game quite simple from a survival point of view.
Players can hide their space suits from visibility
When a player is strolling through a settlement in Starfield, they don’t need to wear their space suit. Players can hide their space suits from showing from their inventory and walk around the city in casual street attire. Similarly, players can hide their helmets as well.
Resources can be mined from asteroids
Players can destroy asteroids from their ships and then extract resources from them. They can collect the items acquired from the asteroid if the spaceship is within 500 m vicinity of the asteroid debris. They usually drop things like iron or water.

Players can get a house early in the game
Players can start with a free house in Starfield if they pick the Dream Home trait during character creation. They’re required to play 500 credits a week to keep the house. However, players can give the house up if they don’t want to pay further.
Flashlight isn’t really useful in Starfield
Players can use the flashlight by holding down F on the PC or LB on the console. However, if you’re thinking of exploring dark areas with the help of the flashlight, your endeavor will fail miserably as the area of effect of the flashlight isn’t big enough.
PC players can use console commands
PC players have the upper hand over console players. If the players want a ton of credits or cheat their way out of a brutal fight by turning on god mode, activating console commands will help you get through these effortlessly. Veteran Bethesda players have an even higher advantage as they’re already used to the Skyrim and Fallout titles.
Med Packs are free
Med packs are mostly accessible in Starfield. While looting for items in the Settled Systems, a red arrow indicates whether you’re stealing something. On the contrary, the green arrow basically means that the player is safe. First aid stations have a lot of free med packs that players can loot without considering it stealing.
Playing the main storyline early in the game
Players should complete the first two missions of the campaign. They’ll get a choice from three missions to take whichever they want in any order. Players should complete the “Into the Unknown.” This mission plays a huge role in organizing the main story of Starfield, so missing out on it can leave out a massive part of the game.
