Harrison Ford Was Offered The Leading Role in Steven Spielberg’s Oscar Winning Movie
Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg are one of Hollywood’s iconic duo who has impressed fans with their ultimate working relationship. The duo has worked together on several films including their well-acclaimed Indiana Jones series.
With their great teamwork in the film series, the latter decided to approach the Cowboys & Aliens star with a leading role in his 1993 Oscar-winning film, Schindler’s List.
Ford, however, refused to portray the role of Oskar Schindler as his stardom from his role as Indiana Jones became a major obstacle at the time. He clarified that the movie might have been overshadowed had he accepted the offer to be in the leading role.
He never wanted the audience to focus on his star power rather than the message conveyed by the film which is why he passed on the role. Liam Neeson was eventually cast who was away from stardom at that time. It was a box office success that grossed $322 million worldwide and ended up winning 7 out of 12 Oscar nominations.
